• Deliver accurate and detailed estimates that align with technical specifications and statutory requirements.
• Provide technical advice to project managers, supervisors, and peers.

Due to continued growth within our Sydney branch, we are seeking applications for Maintenance Technicians / Mechanical Fitters to join our team, operating on the Sydney Opera House.

The role:

We are looking for our next Maintenance Technician to operate on our Sydney Opera House team. The role will be servicing and maintaining Stage Machinary within the Opera House itself - working on a rotating shift roster between 7am and 1am. It will include:

• Preventative Maintenance: Perform scheduled servicing and inspections across assets and site infrastructure to ensure continued safe and efficient operation. Identify and escalate issues promptly to the manager for effective solutions.
• Breakdowns & Repairs: Respond to machinery breakdowns, carry out fault diagnosis, and complete repairs in a timely manner, in order to keep stage machinery systems operational.
• Equipment Installation: Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment and modifications to existing assets.

Qualifications & Experience

• Relevant trade qualification required (e.g. Mechanical Fitter)
• Proven experience in a Maintenance role, working alongside client representatives
• Familiarity with mechanical systems i.e Winch assemblies, Chain Hoists
• Ability to read technical drawings and use maintenance manuals
• Experience using CMMS/preventative maintenance systems
• Work at Heights, EWP ticket, Dogging and Rigging desirable

Working Hours

• 76 hours per fortnight, full-time on a fortnightly roster
• Shift hours are 07:00 – 16:30
• Roster covers alternate weekends
• Overtime available subject to approval (paid at agreed overtime rate)

Due to our continued growth we have an opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager to join the AE Smith team located in our Melbourne (Hawthorn East).

The Role

We are seeking a hands-on Finance Manager who will serve as a critical business partner to the General Manager Finance. This role requires working in high-paced, deadline-driven environments to oversee and consolidate regional financial operations, ensuring standardized reporting and effective service delivery across projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and deliver solutions while meeting KPIs. They must demonstrate leadership by motivating and supporting staff to deliver professional and efficient services. This role requires a proactive, self-managed individual capable of working independently, managing time effectively, and being flexible to accommodate additional hours when necessary.

Day to days will vary but will include:

• Financial Leadership and Reporting: Provide leadership and development for the accounting team, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and rigor in financial results, budgets, and forecasts. Prepare and consolidate financial reports, annual budgets, and business plans while supporting managers with financial insights and compliance with accounting principles.
• Process Improvement and Efficiency: Identify and lead initiatives to improve financial and administrative processes, enhance efficiency, and implement standardized reporting practices.
• Performance Analysis and Cost Management: Analyze financial performance, monitor KPIs, and assist managers in understanding cost drivers and strategies for cost reduction. Proactively identify and resolve potential issues or underperformance.
• Project and Contract Oversight: Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate project forecasts, valuations, and contract reporting. Support financial inputs for tenders and bids, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Stakeholder Engagement and Compliance: Provide regular updates to the General Manager Finance on financial results, coordinate external audits, and ensure full reconciliation of financial reports with systems like SAP.

Must Haves

• CA, CPA, or equivalent qualification.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in financial management role ideally within similar business environments
• Leadership experience with dotted line reports
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to analyze large datasets and communicate trends effectively.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred).
• Proven ability to manage and develop finance teams in high-paced, deadline-driven environments.
