At Envar, apprenticeships are more than a pathway into the trade — they’re a long-standing part of how the business grows its people, its capability, and its culture.
Each year, Envar welcomes apprentices at different stages of their training, from first through to fourth year, ensuring knowledge, skills and experience are continually passed on across the workforce. It’s a practical, people-first approach that reflects Envar’s belief in developing talent from within and building long-term careers in the business.
Expanding Opportunities in 2026
In 2026, that commitment has taken another positive step forward. As Envar continues to grow its operations and workload, the business has expanded its annual intake, welcoming four new apprentices who commenced this week. While Envar typically takes on two apprentices each year, this increased intake reflects the strength of the business and the opportunity to support more people into trade careers at the same time.

With these new starters, Envar now employs 10 apprentices across the business — each supported through structured training, on-the-job learning and a strong culture of mentorship, and each becoming part of the Envar family. Envar has partnered with MIGAS for approximately 10 years to support apprentice recruitment and employment, helping ensure apprentices receive the right support as they begin their careers in the industry.
A Commitment to Train to Retain
At the centre of Envar’s apprenticeship program is a belief in train to retain. The goal has never been to simply offer apprentices a start — it’s to offer them a future, with clear pathways into ongoing employment and career progression. And that future is something Envar sees come to life each year.
From Apprentice to Qualified Tradesperson
Most recently, Nathan and Ash have both completed their apprenticeships and stepped into Junior Trade positions, continuing their careers with Envar as fully qualified members of the team. Their progression reflects what the apprenticeship program is designed to do: support apprentices through their learning years and provide real opportunities once they qualify.
Nathan’s journey highlights the value of exposure, mentorship and a supportive team environment throughout the apprenticeship experience.
“Throughout my apprenticeship at Envar, I’ve had the opportunity to learn from a lot of different technicians, and I’m really grateful for the support they’ve given me along the way,” Nathan said. “Being able to gain experience across both Envar Engineering and Service over the 4 years was a big milestone and helped me build a broader range of hands-on skills. Envar’s a relaxed and welcoming place to work where people genuinely enjoy coming in each day, which made it an easy decision to step into a full-time Junior Trade role and continue growing with the team.”

Ash’s experience also reflects the strength of Envar’s apprenticeship program, particularly in creating space for people to step into the trade from different backgrounds.
“After spending 10–15 years in hospitality, starting an apprenticeship was a huge career change for me and definitely outside my comfort zone,” Ash said. “It was a scary first step, but I’m so happy I made the leap and really proud of how far I’ve come. The support at Envar has been incredible — it truly feels like a family you didn’t know you needed but you’ve got, and they always have your back. Now that I’m qualified, I’m excited to keep learning and to pass on that knowledge to help apprentices coming up behind me.”

Leadership That Shapes Careers
The apprenticeship program is led by Mark, Envar’s Service Operations Manager, who brings both experience and personal passion to the role. Mark has been with Envar for 10+ years and in the industry for 26 years.
“I began my career at Envar on the tools, so I know how important it is to have people around you who genuinely want to see you succeed,” Mark said. “At Envar, it doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from — what matters is your willingness to learn. We’re proud of the family culture we’ve built here, and I love watching apprentices grow into long-term members of the team.”
A Culture Built to Last
That sense of long-term commitment runs deep at Envar. A large majority of the workforce has been with the business for more than a decade — a reflection of the supportive, family-style culture that makes people want to stay, grow and build lasting careers.
While National Apprenticeship Week offers a timely reminder of how important apprentices are to the industry, Envar’s commitment to training and development is something lived out every day — on job sites, in workshops and through the mentorship that shapes future tradespeople. Envar’s focus on apprenticeships and career pathways also reflects the broader commitment across the Amplius Group of companies — AE Smith, Nuvo and Envar — to developing people and building long-term trade careers.
To our new starters: Welcome.
To Nathan and Ash: Congratulations.
And to every apprentice across Envar and the wider Amplius Group: Your future is bright, and we’re proud to be part of your journey.
