The Client
The Sydney Opera House is a globally recognised performing arts centre and a UNESCO World Heritage site. It hosts a broad range of events from opera and theatre to contemporary music. Maintaining reliable and high-quality stage technology is essential to its operations.
Nuvo has worked with the Sydney Opera House on multiple technical infrastructure projects over more than eight years. Past engagements have included works in the Joan Sutherland Theatre and the Concert Hall to support evolving production needs.
What we achieved with our customer
The engagement involved upgrading stage automation components, lighting control systems, and audio‑visual infrastructure within the Concert Hall and other venues. Work was conducted during scheduled dark periods to limit disruption to operations. Nuvo delivered systems integration, electrical services, predictive maintenance planning and equipment installation. Collaboration with Opera House teams ensured operational continuity and skill transition through structured training.
Nuvo delivered key infrastructure upgrades to the Sydney Opera House’s stage systems, including electrical, production lighting, and audio-visual services. This work helped modernise core components while supporting operational resilience through structured maintenance planning.
In collaboration with local and international suppliers, Nuvo facilitated the transition to upgraded systems by providing in-situ training. Engagements were scheduled to align with planned downtime, minimising impact to ongoing performance schedules.
Given the complex physical environment—especially the limited access in ceiling spaces—Nuvo implemented a carefully phased installation plan. This ensured technical systems were integrated with existing infrastructure and met performance requirements. Following successful implementation, the Opera House extended Nuvo’s engagement beyond its initial contract term, supporting ongoing systems reliability and venue readiness.
