The Client
Hollywood Private Hospital, operated by Ramsay Health Care, is one of the largest private hospitals in Western Australia. Located in Nedlands, it provides a wide range of medical, surgical, and oncology services to thousands of patients annually. With a reputation for high-quality clinical care, the hospital is a cornerstone of Perth’s private healthcare network.
The mechanical services upgrade formed part of a broader campus expansion. It aimed to modernise essential plant and infrastructure systems, ensuring future capacity, compliance with healthcare ventilation standards, and operational efficiency in a growing facility
What we achieved with our customer
Hollywood Private Hospital engaged Envar to deliver a major mechanical and services upgrade across its facilities in Nedlands. Delivered in collaboration with builder Cooper & Oxley, the project focused on improving clinical resilience, operational control, and future-readiness through strategic plant and system upgrades.
The scope included a new central plant with air-cooled chillers and natural gas-fired boilers, providing the backbone for upgraded chilled and hot water systems. Air Handling Units (AHUs) were deployed to serve wards and kitchen areas, with dedicated AHUs installed for operating theatres and isolation rooms. These systems included HEPA filtration and 100% fresh air exhaust capabilities to meet strict infection control and air quality requirements.
Fan coil units serviced shared and circulation spaces, while specialist exhaust and make-up air systems were integrated into clinical and kitchen zones. The kitchen system included a ventilated ceiling with grease collection, lighting, and zoned AHU makeup to ensure comfort, hygiene, and energy performance.
Additional services included multiple freezer and cool rooms, a full medical gas and compressed air system, a pneumatic message delivery tube network, and a fully integrated Building Management System (BMS). The BMS provided seamless control across all systems and enhanced operational reliability, ensuring the hospital remained resilient and efficient for years to come.
Since the project’s successful completion in 2016, Envar has maintained an ongoing relationship with Hollywood Private Hospital. The team continues to provide mechanical services under a long-term maintenance contract and has been engaged in multiple follow-on upgrade projects—reinforcing Envar’s role as a trusted delivery and service partner to the hospital.
