The Client
Bendigo Bank is a subsidiary of one of Australia’s Big 3 banks, delivering comprehensive banking and financial services across retail, business, and rural sectors. With a longstanding commitment to community banking, Bendigo Bank has built a strong reputation for reliability and service in both metropolitan and regional Australia.
This project involved a high-profile office fitout located at 555 Collins Street, a landmark commercial tower in Melbourne’s CBD known for its premium-grade facilities and stringent environmental performance benchmarks. AE Smith worked in partnership with Renascent Constructions to deliver a modern, efficient workplace that reflects the bank’s sustainability goals and operational excellence.
What we achieved with our customer
The Bendigo Bank fitout at 555 Collins Street involved the installation and commissioning of HVAC systems across three commercial office floors. AE Smith delivered a tailored solution to support energy performance, staff comfort, and compliance within a highly regulated environment. Despite a compressed timeline, all systems were delivered on time and within budget.
Working within a live building required careful staging of works to align with noise restrictions and commercial tenancy operations. AE Smith’s team implemented a coordinated delivery model, optimising workflow and collaborating closely with Renascent Constructions and other stakeholders to ensure minimal disruption.
To meet compliance and operational needs, AE Smith installed watercooled packaged air conditioning units using the latest energy-efficient technology. The integration of a Building Management System (BMS) enabled centralised monitoring and enhanced control over energy usage, aligning with the building’s broader sustainability targets.
A key engineering focus was the new internal stairwell connecting the fitout levels. AE Smith successfully managed complex fire compartmentation and smoke control requirements in accordance with Australian Standards, ensuring full compliance while maintaining project timelines.
